I hope everyone had a merry Christmas. It’s a very busy and somewhat chaotic time of year but we all need to stop, take a deep breath and realize a couple of things. Number one, social media is very powerful and instantaneous, however, we need to actually pick up the phone and call your family and friends when there is an important event or a special occasion in their life. The internet can be so impersonal at times and people really do love to hear from you from time to time.
Next, arrange to meet with your friends and family, sometimes just dropping in is awkward. It’s really great to actually see people and get back into some interpersonal communication. You can’t give your parents a big hug over the internet of telephone. I lost my Dad exactly a week before Christmas this year(my mom 5 years ago) and I will really miss giving him a big hug and wishing him Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! So, call your friends on their birthdays and on special occasions, and visit your parents whenever possible.
Sending emails and Facebook just doesn’t really give your friends or family any gratification when it’s “their special day”. Real friends call people on their birthdays and on Christmas!!!
Hoping everyone has a Happy and Health New Year!
